Dear Friends, welcome to the first of my new regular blogs that will aim to keep you up todate with all the wonderful things that are happening in themightySmall world. It has been an exciting and momentus year, with so much activity on so many fronts.
Last week I had the pleasure of supporting two great guys – Morrissey & Marshall at the opening night of their “Good Vibrations” night at the uber cool Vinyl Bar in Soho.Thank you guys for your fantastic generosity to me, it was wonderful to play for such an enthusiastic crowd. And thank you to Blue, the Manager of the club. I hope to be back again in the New Year. If you are ever in the Oxford Street area of London, do drop in and check the place out. Say ‘Hi” from me!
One of the tracks I played that night was “Clear Waters, No Worries” which I recently posted on the Facebook page along with a new video for the track. I have to say that I have been completely taken aback by the reaction to the song – it has clearly touched a chord with a great number of people. As a song writer, that is the most wonderful thing to know. Thank you to everyone for your feedback, and espcially to our good friend Bob Simpson @ Phoenix FM for playing the track as part of his Radio Blogs on Mental Health Matters.
I have now uploaded the track to my website, so if you wish to download it, head over to www.paolomorena.com/buypaolo
The video is now on YOU TUBE, and also features on the website for SKY TV Channel, “Britrox”. This is a new channel set up to support new and emerging Artists. I am very grateful for their support – and looking forward to working closely with them in the future. Check out the video on their site here; http://britrox.com/music-videos/alternative-contemporary/
On the subject of videos, myself and our video Director, Steve Kirkham, are currently working on the edit of the video for my next single. “Its Only Love”. We shot the video in the summer at The BoilerHouse Studio in Bury St Edmunds, myself Steve and my Manager, Martin on an all night shoot. Looking forward to sharing that with you soon. Martin is currently talking to Labels and Pluggers, with a view to putting the single out in the first quarter of next year.
I have also been working on a couple of videos for Britrox TV – to do with promoting “TheMightySmall” album, which I will share with you very shortly.
We have also had a video come in from a film maker we met on the road earlier in the year who was so enthused by the album that he put together a fantastic video for “Anything” – many thanks John, you are a legend! Keep a look out for the video on FaceBook shortly.
Tonight is the last of our ELECTRIC JAM promotions at The Bassment (13th November) I am so proud of the promotions we have put on this year, and so grateful to the support of so many musicians who have turned up to play on the nights. Thank you too to all the guys at the Bassment – Jon, Chuck, Max and Kristen especially for supporting the nights. Very excited that joining me tonight are good friends “The Boy Jones” and John and James from the “Velettes” Hope you can make it along for an exciting night of jamming!
These are two of the most exciting bands around in Essex at the moment – and also some of the nicest people too. Looking forward to playing on stage with them tonight, along with any other musicians that fancy the Jam! Doors open at 8pm – I will be playing a set from 9pm, and then let all hell break loose from 9.30 !
Whilst on the subject of Gigs, I still have a number left to play this year but Id like to give a heads up to a couple in particular. On 4th December I will be play at Hillingdon Sports Centre for the Volunteers of the Homeless Charity, “Trinity” . Not only that, afterwards I will be bedding down with the 1000+ volunteers in a cardboard box to help raise money and awareness for this growing plight in our country.
Please check out the Trinity website for details of how to donate – or come along and join in. Its an incredible experience as Martin and I can testify to, as we took part in last years event. I am very proud to work for Trinity as their Ambassador – and as the # for this years Event says #itcouldbeme The website address is www.wearetrinity.org.uk
The following week 11th December is my Final gig of the year, the Annual Christmas Party at the Bassment. Absolutely stoked that SUNSCREEM and BLACK CHAPEL have agreed to play on the Bill again. If you were there back in September the last time they played – you know what a special night this is going to be. Everyone is excited to see this gig – including me! Please check my Facebook or Website for details of tickets. We are going to make this Christmas party – See you all there!
Updates to follow in my next Blog!
